Biography

Laura O. Duran has been licensed to practice law in Texas for over 15 years.  A mother of three and a native South Texan, she is dedicated to helping families navigate their legal matters with compassion and empathy.

She earned many years of family law experience as an associate at other law firms in Bexar County and as a solo practitioner.  Laura O. Duran has represented hundreds of children and parents through her career as a certified Attorney and Guardian Ad Litem for Child Protective Service cases.  She has developed a reputation for taking on and working through legal cases with Child Protective Service involvement. She has also served as an amicus attorney in very complicated custody battles, all the while focused on the best interest of children.

She has stepped into the role as a senior partner at Roberson Duran Law, PLLC as a skilled family law litigator, as well as a seasoned and knowledgeable legal advocate.

She is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, College Station, where she was very active in the Hispanic community, and served for two years as the President of the Hispanic Journalism Society.  She was an award-winning news writer and copy editor for The Battalion, Texas A&M's highly regarded college newspaper.

From her undergraduate career, she moved on to St. Mary's University School of Law, where she became a published author and an editor of "The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Minority Issues."  The student body also voted for Laura O. Duran to serve as their representative as a senator in student government and she worked at the St. Mary's University Legal Clinic.  While at the legal clinic she helped battered immigrant women obtain legal residency and work visas.  The work she did in law school led to her receiving the St. Mary's University School of Law's "Educating for Justice Award" in 2003.

Laura O. Duran is a dedicated mother and is very involved in her children's schools as well as the Southwest Texas division of the Girls Scouts of America. She also serves as a mentor for students at Brandeis High School who wish to join her profession.
